The management of the Club is controlled by the executive committee. The committee meets regularly once a month to manage the club’s affairs and always looking at ways to improve the club and its facilities for the benefit of the members.

I joined the committee in April 2024 and somehow convinced everyone I was sensible enough to become Chairman in January 2026. Since then, I’ve discovered that the role involves far more than meetings — I’ve pulled pints on Feast Day, flipped burgers on the barbecue, and taken great pleasure in tormenting the village as quizmaster.
I absolutely love being part of the team here. There’s nothing better than rolling up my sleeves and getting stuck in… unless you count heading for the hills with my hiking boots on. When I’m not at the club, you’ll usually find me out on a long walk, listening to Planet Rock, or daydreaming about bikes and cars – . I’m an unashamed petrolhead!
Chris Warwick

Chris (also known as “Odd Job”, which has nothing to do with the hat). Tech geek and sustainability warrior who has been known to send customers to sleep by explaining the difference between kW and kWh. Ask him about the club solar panels, batteries or heat pumps and he’ll be your friend for life.
Mette Milne
Secretary
Originally from Denmark but now very much at home in Harwell, Mette is a mum of three, Teaching Assistant, works in the wonderful world of utilities, serial starter of new projects and, somehow, Club Secretary at The Harwellian. She loves getting involved, bringing people together and coming up with new ideas – usually with a coffee in hand and a to-do list that’s already far too long. When she’s not working, parenting or doing something Harwellian-related, she can usually be found listening to surprisingly heavy music, spending time with her family and two dogs, or finding yet another project she definitely doesn’t have time for.

I have been working in accountancy for 25 years, mainly as a finance manager and financial analyst for several companies.
I am both a Fellow and Licensed Member in Practice of the AAT, a Quickbooks Certified ProAdvisor and Xero Advisor Certified.

Annelies Gillesen

Hi, I’m Annelies. Dog walker, guitar player, live music lover and enthusiastic Guinness quality-control officer.
I’m always happy to lend a hand with whatever needs doing and generally enjoy helping people out.
When I’m not walking the dog, you’ll usually find me somewhere near the bar, pint in hand, putting the world health to rights and pretending I know the words to whatever the band is playing.
I joined the Harwellian Committee because I wanted to get involved and support a great local community hub. It’s a brilliant place to bring people together, and of course, the fact that they serve a good pint of Guinness certainly helps! 🍺

Elly has been supporting the club since 2021, and having done a stint as Secretary is now a committee member. As well as being a keen Aunt Sally player and cider drinker, Elly is passionate about The Harwellian being a friendly and welcoming hub for the whole community. She brings a varied background, including human resources, with her… ask her about rules and policies, she loves them!

I’ve been on the committee of The Harwellian Club and its predecessor the RBL Club for nearly 20 years in various roles. Originally I was representing Harwell Rugby Club. These days my involvement is around Events and Aunt Sally, with a few other jobs thrown in.
I also offer my own historical perspective on things, whether it is requested or not.

The committee are empowered to co-opt qualified members to join at any time during the year of office if they feel that this is in the best interests of the club.
